Pupazze & Danze

Focusing our research on collective practices aimed at the co-construction of shared imaginaries, we identified papier-mâché as a familiar and accessible language for the young inhabitants of Amantea involved in the SEPPIE LAB.

The wearable papier-mâché sculptures, created in collaboration with artist Roberto Alfano, draw inspiration from the Carnival traditions of Amantea and the Ciuccio di San Giovanni—rituals that have historically activated collective dynamics and choral processes, both in their making and in their public celebration.

The performative action engaged local youth as well as the association Gynestra from Longobardi (CS), weaving a network of relationships across different local communities through shared experimentation and embodied participation.
