Pupazze & Danze

Purposed for youth in Amantea, Pupazze e Danze uses papier-mâché as an accessible medium to foster shared imagineries.
Part of the Seppie Lab that focuses on collective practices, Pupazze e Danze involved the creation of wearable papier-mâché sculptures that were made in collaboration with the artist Roberto Alfano, and drew inspiration from regional carnival traditions, as well as the Ciuccio di San Giovanni: a ritual that generates collective dynamics and choral processes.
While the performative element of the project was engaged with local youth, it also wove a network of relationships across different local communities and associations as La Gynestra, thanks to shared experimentation and embodied participation.
