CH'i - Respiro Cosmico

Ch’i is a sculpture that was exhibited at the Maker Faire 2016 in Rome, which takes the form of an Eastern dragon, bearer of positivity and wisdom, constructed from metal mesh and covered with approximately 11,000 scales that were repurposed from banners of previous artworks. In the context of increasingly visible and urgent global migration flows, Ch’i becomes an embodiment of the digital stream, channeling the movement of networks through the hashtag #migrants that were translated into multiple languages. Being responsible for experimenting with hardware circuits, the interactive relational sculpture translates data into experience: the dragon’s breath, expressed through the intensity of internal LED lights and the sound of an embedded speaker, responded in real time to the frequency of hashtag sharing, growing stronger or softer depending on its circulation.
Having developed the HTML code and conducting research on the subject, Ch’i generates a relational anthropological flow which links virtual engagement to physical presence.
