CH'i - Respiro Cosmico
The sculpture takes the form of an Eastern dragon—bearer of positivity and wisdom—constructed from metal mesh and covered with approximately 11,000 scales, repurposed from banners of previous artworks.
In the context of increasingly visible and urgent global migration flows, Ch’i becomes an embodiment of the digital stream, channeling the movement of the Network through the hashtag #migrants, translated into multiple languages.
This interactive relational sculpture translates bits into atoms: the dragon’s breath—expressed through the intensity of internal LED lights and the sound of an embedded speaker—responds in real time to the frequency of hashtag sharing, growing stronger or softer depending on its circulation. In doing so, it generates a relational anthropological flow, linking virtual engagement to physical presence.
Ch’i was also exhibited at the Maker Faire 2016 in Rome.
