BelMondo Tracks

Tracce di BELMondo" is one of the nine site-specific activations of “Spaziale presenta”, the preparatory phase of “Spaziale: Everyone Belongs to Everyone Else,” Fosbury Architecture’s project for the Italian Pavilion at the 18th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture.

Set within the semi-abandoned garden of an ancient castle, the project sought to reanimate an underused space through a light architectural intervention and the creation of interactive sound furnishings, designed to foster active listening between the local inhabitants and their surroundings.

In the months leading up to the site-specific installations, we activated a series of participatory actions with the community of Belmonte Calabro, engaging in particular a group of local youth. The intent was to “inhabit the site before building it,” initiating a shared process of re-signification through presence, listening, and co-creation.

Together with residents, we developed a fake news campaign to draw collective attention toward the neglected site, organized exploratory walks, artist residencies, and people-specific communication actions. These were complemented by mediation and facilitation sessions aimed at nurturing long-term relational infrastructures. These situated practices laid the groundwork for the pilot project of the (Glocal Centre) a prototype for an autonomous social infrastructure envisioned as a space for ongoing activation between residents, territory, and collective design.
