Processo Piazza Mercato

Tavolate is a co-design activity developed by La Rivoluzione delle Seppie in collaboration with Anna Forciniti. The goal was to collectively imagine new uses and potential futures for the Marina Market of Belmonte Calabro, preparing both the local and temporary communities to host the activities of Crossings 2022. The aim was to shape actions rooted in the specific context of the territory. By inviting all town residents to gather around a communal and reflective table in the disused market area, the event became an experience of co-creation and dialogue. It sparked the collective imagination of the market space as a vibrant place of gathering and social life.

Co-designing new imaginaries and uses for the Marina Market of Belmonte Calabro

A political act of imagination, a new artistic intervention in the village, and a reimagined Market Square as a symbol of a growing community in Belmonte Calabro.

Among the many workshops held during Crossings 2022, Mercato Marina, led by the architecture collective Orizzontale, resulted in the creation of a new urban infrastructure between the Market area and the beach. The project was a collaborative effort involving a diverse group of students, researchers, and professionals, developed in agreement with the municipality of Belmonte Calabro.

As part of Crossings 22, the collective CHEAP conducted a participatory workshop focused on the language of public art. During the lab, participants engaged with the processes and research initiated by La Rivoluzione delle Seppie in Belmonte Calabro, exploring the relationship between local communities and artistic practices. The result of this collaboration was a public art intervention in the form of poster installations, an outcome of collective work that intertwined external perspectives with local lived experiences.
